PLEASE HELP OUR HERO

This is "HERO" our newest rescue who comes to us from a shelter in Ohio. This poor dog! Hero is 10 months old and has never known a home. I will be busy making him feel better, Hero was named by his transporter Deb O. He is just breaking my heart. His feet are so painful from the mange he can hardly stand up. The morning after his arrival, he could not even open his eyes do to the infections. He got his first treatments today and his first dose of antibiotics, but will need much more. He is eating well and we are adding Pet-Tab to help boost his immune system which he will get one daily along with Nutra-Cal paste.

He is a sweetheart.

If you can help us help him, please mail your donation to:

Tucker

Michele just adopted Tucker the red male Doberman , who is 10 yrs old and completely blind, he was adopted from a different rescue group than mine but just take a good look at this senior. He was found wandering as a stray (BLIND) in Cleveland. He apparently was being used as a bait dog for pitbull training. He had to have one of his eyes removed and sewn shut and the other is completely blind from glaucoma. His ears are shredded and he has multiple scars on his body. This dog had a horrible life, but now is safe and happy for his senior years with Michele. Please don’t forget about those seniors out there, no matter where they are from. Saving one is so rewarding and they have a lot of love to give. Just look at those photos. How could you not love him!

Pet Community Award
From Pet Encyclopedia

Congratulations on being awarded our 'Pet Community' award.

The Pet Community award is handed out to special pet rescue websites who go above and beyond the call of duty to help abandoned and homeless pets in their local communities. As most people know, all pet rescue centers are made up of hard working, dedicated volunteers who give their valuable time to this great cause, this award is to say your hard work is appreciated and acknowledged by pet lovers within our own online pet community.

I am happy to be writing, to present your Doberman Pinscher Rescue Western Pa website with the

'Pet Community Dog Rescue' award.

By being given this award, you are entitled to display our Pet Community award graphic on your website.

The Duquesne University School of Law Animal Law Society

A couple of us met with an attorney at the law school's clinic last week to setting up  DPRWPA as a 501(c)(3) non-profit!

The class will be doing this as a project under the direction of chair of the Law School.

Basically, the process entails carefully filling out and submitting various forms. We may start this project this semester, but in all probability most of our work will be done over the summer. Our professors like to keep us busy with tons of work!

The costs involved in setting up a 501(c)(3) non-profit range from $500-$1,000.

If everything goes well, we'd like to hold the fundraiser during the week of 3/10.

This is once again an example of how many people and how many things must happen to save ONE life.

First Natalie from PACCA posted the need for Chief to be taken ASAP on a rescue email list that I am on. I picked this dog over 12 that were listed to take time to network in order to find a rescue that would take him since we didn't have a foster available. All the other dogs were as needy however he was the first I opened up the email on. I did a search for a Doberman Rescue and found one in Western PA. Although I knew it was a long shot I contacted them. To my surprise Nancy, the founder of the rescue responded telling me that she would take him. Since she didn't copy Natalie at PACCA. and I didn't look at my email's until afternoon I was worried that we were too late. Luckily Natalie was still holding on to Chief. After about 6 phone calls among myself, Natalie, Nancy and Mark transport was arranged Volunteer from PACCA drove Chief to Mark and Mark drove him part of the way to Nancy and then Donna picked him up. It took 5 people to save Chief and coordinated determined effort. Thank you so much for the pictures. I dream of the day that I have the space, volunteers etc to be able to save more animals than we presently can. I am so grateful that you could take him. This is what I shared with our volunteers after getting your email that he made it to you! Let me know if you want me to help market him in our area. Mary

Note to potential adopter:

Completely trained, perfectly behaved dogs we do not have.

We do however get in dogs that are un-socialized, untrained, badly neglected and sometimes very abused . These dogs are starved for food and attention most of the time. They want to be loved. They want a home to live in, not a filthy cage or yard or tied to a doghouse day in and day out. Some have never had a kind word or gesture, never had a full belly, never warm in the winter or cool in the summer. They have however had frostbite due to inadequate shelter, fly bites in the heat of summer, broken bones and spirits from abuse, and lonely broken hearts as they wonder what they have done wrong. Some have even had the pleasure of seeing the neighboring dogs play with their owner, go for car rides and get a hug and a full bowl of food and water. They are scared, feel unwanted and hopeless. Some are very sick, and some do not even make it, some die, never knowing what love is. This is where you come in. Rescue dogs do need love , they do need a home and they do need your help. Adopting a dog from a rescue or shelter can be the most rewarding experience for both you and a dog. From first hand experience I can assure you the dog you rescue will be one of the best pets you have ever had. He will be thankful for everything you give him, since he probably never had anything before. You will feel the difference in your heart and in his. He or she will give you love unconditionally, and will look to you for guidance. He or she will protect you, love you and adore you for what you have given him food, water, warmth, love and safety. I have included some of the before photos of dogs that where rescued and saved. These dogs have all been placed in loving homes and are now living out their lives happy and contented with people who love them.

Below is a poor guy who did not make it, he was starved and infected with fleas. I called him Bo, he was very sweet and loving despite how he was treated, he just wanted to be loved,   sadly he was not able to be saved.

Will you be one of those people who can save one?

Please come see what our dogs have to offer. You will be surprised.

Best Regards,
Nancy Robson
